# The Vivienne, widely celebrated as the winner of the inaugural season of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, has passed away at the age of 32. Tributes have since flooded in, including a heartfelt message from their former spouse.

Simon Jones, the publicist for The Vivienne, announced the passing of the beloved drag performer, Jamie Lee Williams, on Sunday, January 5. In an Instagram post, Jones described them as “deeply loved, warm-hearted, and extraordinary.”

The Vivienne's former husband, David Ludford, shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, reflecting on the profound impact Williams had on his life.

“My heart sank when I got the call. I never imagined I’d be writing something like this about James Lee Williams [The Vivienne],” Ludford wrote.

He continued: “This incredible person transformed my life from the moment we met in Gran Canaria in August 2017. We connected instantly and knew we’d be together for a long time. They showed me what it truly meant to love and be loved.”

Although Ludford and Williams had been divorced for over a year, they shared a six-year relationship before parting ways.

“We spent six amazing years together, full of love, and nothing can ever erase that,” Ludford said. Addressing Williams directly, he added: “I’m so grateful for the time we had. You were my partner, my husband, and such a significant part of my life for so long. You’ll always hold a place in my heart. I’ll miss you more than words can express. Rest peacefully, my angel.”

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, police were called to a property in Cheshire on Sunday following reports of a sudden death. While the cause of death has yet to be disclosed, both the police and Jones confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

Tributes have poured in for The Vivienne from Drag Race legend Michelle Visage, the show itself, the BBC, and countless fellow drag queens, all honoring the memory of their cherished UK drag sister.
