**Gabriel Barros Reportedly Dies After Donating Kidney to Estranged Father**

Reports about the death of 22-year-old Gabriel Barros have sparked heartbreak and anger around the world.

Barros, from Pernambuco, Brazil, was allegedly forced to leave home at 16 after coming out as gay. He reportedly spent the following six years estranged from his father, relying on friends and shelters while rebuilding his life.

In early 2026, his father was diagnosed with advanced chronic kidney failure and urgently needed a transplant. Accounts attributed to relatives say other family members were unable to donate, prompting Barros to undergo compatibility testing.
